To celebrate the arrival of springtime this year, we held a special spring day celebration exclusively for our residents.
What could be better to chase away the lock-down blues than a spring day event filled with fun activities and entertainment. On 1st September 2020, the Fleurenville care team gave our residents a much-needed break from the isolated routine of lock-down with a spring day party. Although this year’s spring day arrived with some gloomy overcast weather instead of the sunshine we were hoping for, nothing could cast a cloud over the residents’ excitement.
Residents were treated to live entertainment, a quiz competition and a best spring day hat contest followed by a delicious spring day inspired lunch. For the first time in a long time the atmosphere at Fleurenville was filled with laughter, dancing, singing and happiness. Our residents thoroughly enjoyed the day, and some had the chance to win great prizes!
Well done to Gert Steenkamp, Veronica Liebenberg, Joan Hundt, and Mienke Bosua who won the “Best Spring Day Hat” competition and to Gert Steenkamp and Ben Gerber our “Vasvra wenners”!
For the safety of our residents, this year’s spring day celebration was closed to the public and was exclusively for our residents and staff who joined in the fun. All safety and hygiene protocols were followed, and our entertainers made sure to keep a good distance between themselves and the residents and staff at our facility.
Our sincere thanks go to our sponsors who made the Spring Day celebration for our residents possible: Yvonne Ferreira, Coenie Groenewald, Francis Strydom, Stephen Rens and Lize Bothma Begrafnisdienste! Lastly, but definitely not least, we must thank the caring team at Fleurenville who arranged the event!
