How do you feel about growing old?
For some, it's a scary time filled with lots of changes and even loneliness.
But it doesn't need to be that way. In fact, it shouldn't.
Research produces many reports on how we can slow down the negative parts of ageing and increase the positives of living our lives until the end – instead of disengaging years before.
How we choose to view and accept the changes is crucial to our ability to "ageing gracefully." A positive attitude towards ageing allows us to weather the expected and unexpected changes we experience. We are living longer. How will you prepare for the next decades of your life?
Your journey can go in one of two directions.; the role of "patient" and accepting a diagnosis, or being mentally healthy and working with an attitude of "I will enjoy my life" despite my age?
During my time here at Fleurenville Aged Care, I have met many people on both sides of this ageing journey. And I truly believe in one thing: Your attitude guides that journey! So let's manage our ageing trajectory to a more positive future with fewer shortfalls and more joy.
Suppose you write your own "blueprint" for a healthy future. In that case, it could include adjusting your attitude to be more positive, with intention and less pessimistic. Of course, that does take work, maybe a little professional coaching from our Fleurenville Professional Care Team. But, soon, you'll discover that change can bring the best that life can bring.
A few changes I suggest to start off with is a daily exercise routine, a healthy nutritional balanced diet and "brain health". Brain health focuses on mindfulness, reducing stress and getting involved in our community engagement programmes at Fleurenville.
Designing a blueprint for an extraordinarily long life takes intention and sometimes a little coaching. At Fleurenville Aged Care, our Registered Care Managers can be your guide – give us a call if you are stuck and want to make positive changes.
