Once a month we gather in the Bateleur to celebrate the birthdays of residents during that month. All residents are invited to attend this special occasion.
The meeting was opened by Matron Potgieter.
She welcomed all attendees in her normal charismatic demeanour, with special mention of the birthday boys and girls.
She then delivered a special message directed to the “birthday residents.” To my mind it was such a special and powerful message that I trust that all attendees will take heart of it.
The residents celebrating their birthdays included:
1. Mr Henry Rankin, 3 October, 119
2. Mrs Thelma Meyer, 6 October, 218
3. Mrs Agnes Hugo, 23 October, 523 — 100 years!
4. Mr Coenie Groenewald, 24 October, 310
5. Mrs Reinette Mitchell, 24 October, 813
Congratulations to all. May your future be blessed with good health.
We were then entertained by a live duet with a special message in the songs they performed.
The event was then concluded with the customary coffee, tea and very tasteful eats.
Not to be detrimental to our residents who are also celebrating their birthdays in October, special mention should be made of a very special day for Mrs Agnes Hugo – 523 – she celebrated her HUNDRED BIRTHDAY on October 23!
